Use DIALINDEX to Conduct a Comprehensive Search on a Particular Subject?

TOPIC: Dialog offers two multiple file search options: DIALINDEX® (File 411) and OneSearch®. DIALINDEX is an index to most of the databases on Dialog. You can search two or more individual databases by file number or subject categories or both. OneSearch allows you to search more than one database at a time. As a first step in engineering research, use DIALINDEX to scan databases in engineering categories. This will identify the Dialog databases that contain the most information on the subject you are researching. Then use OneSearch to conduct a comprehensive search in those files. In OneSearch, you can search up to 60 databases.

In this example we'll search the Engineering category (ENG) for information on nanoworms.

2. SET FILES to search the engineering category (ENG).

 

3. SELECT your search term(s). Note that in DIALINDEX no sets are made so if your search had more than one term, they must be entered in one search statement.
