Locate Conference Papers on a Similar Topic Given at the Same Conference?
TOPIC: A major way to obtain literature on emerging technologies is to locate conference papers on similar topics. A number of databases on Dialog contain conference information, including Inspec® (File 2) and Ei Compendex® (File 8). In addition, these files also have extensive indexing for conference information including conference title (CT=), conference date (CY=) and conference number (CN= in Ei Compendex).
Peter Scheffel gave a paper at the 2008 International Society for Optical Engineering Multisensor, Multisource Information Fusion. He wants to know if other papers besides his own mentioned sensor fusion and who the authors were. We'll use File 8 for this search.

HOW TO...
1. BEGIN in Ei Compendex (File 8), a database that contains conference proceedings.
2. SELECT the author's last name, followed by truncation to retrieve all authors named Scheffel.
You can also use the EXPAND or VISUAL EXPAND command and SELECT the author from the EXPAND list.
Use the CT= field to search the Conference Title field. Note that this field is word indexed, so proximity connectors must be used to search a phrase. |

3. TYPE out a record using Format 3 to see the Ei Conference Number which can be used to find other papers given at this conference. |

4. Choose the Ei conference Number (CN=) and the specific topic for the conference papers you want to view.
5. NOT out the paper by Scheffel that you have already viewed.

6. TYPE out the records of the authors who also wrote on sensor fusion using Format 3.
To see the entire record with abstract, TYPE the record using Format 9.
