Find News on an International Company Using DIALINDEX?
TOPIC: When you need to find news items about an international company, the first place to go is DIALINDEX, File 411, the Dialog index file. This file allows you to search the indexes of files that are grouped by subject.
The following search example shows a strategy for retrieving articles about an international company that sells confectionary products. We want to find out if Cadbury Schweppes is in the chewing gum business. The DIALINDEX category selected is INTLNEWS. For the file listings in each category, use the Show Files command.
COMMAND SUMMARY

You can also BEGIN selected N numbers, separated by commas. Dialog now leaves File 411 and moves into the databases selected.
7. EXECUTE the temporary SearchSave. You can omit the name of the SearchSave because Dialog remembers the last one you created.
Note: If you log off and then log back on and want to execute the temporary SearchSave, you must use the name or number of the SearchSave. |

Cadbury buys Intergum
Times of London ( TL ) - FRIDAY, June 08, 2007

Text:
Cadbury Schweppes accelerated its push into the global
chewing gum market yesterday, gobbling up Turkey's Intergum
for Pounds 227 million. Intergum is the market leader in Turkey's
rapidly growing gum market, witha 46 per cent share. It reported
revenues of Pounds 55 million last year.
The deal will cement Cadbury's position as one of the leading players in the Pounds 10 billion global gum market, alongside Wrigley, its American rival.
Cadbury already owns several leading gum brands, including Trident, which it recently launched in the UK, having bought the US confectionery giant Adams for Pounds 2.7 billion in 2003.
Cadbury, which is selling off its US soft drinks arm, will present a new strategy this month for its core confectionery business. That will include plans to trim about Pounds 200 million in annual costs. The cuts are likely to trigger factory closures among Cadbury's worldwide confectionery plants and reduce its global sweets
workforce of about 50,000.
