Find Biographical Information on a Director or Officer Using Journal Sources?

TOPIC: Several databases on Dialog are good sources of biographical information on the directors or officers of companies. Some databases provide only basic biographical data, while others may include extensive biographical articles on specific individuals.

Biographical information about an officer or director of a large or well-known company may appear in a business article. Several files that cover business literature include a Name field, as well as additional fields that can be used to locate articles with biographical information. Some databases that contain biographical information include: ABI INFORM® (File 15), Gale Group Magazine Database™ (File 47), Gale Group Management Contents® (File 75), Gale Group Trade & Industry Database™ (File 148), Newspapers Abstracts Daily (File 483), and Periodical Abstracts PlusText™ (File 484).

HOW TO...

1. BEGIN in Files 483 and 484 to find journal articles about a named person.

2. Visual Expand the person's name using the NM= prefix to determine if the person of interest is covered in the database.

Note: Some names have a comma after the last name and others do not; thus, it's good to EXPAND to see a listing.

Check boxes for the appropriate name(s) and click the Select button.
