Special Features of Dialog

In addition to offering you the powerful Dialog command language for searching, the Dialog system offers a number of special options and features that can simplify and streamline your information management processes.

Dialog Delivery Options

Dialog provides a variety of delivery options for both your online search results and your Dialog Alert search results. Choose the option that suits your needs: e-mail, FTP or postal delivery, to either your address or someone else's in your organization.

An automatic current awareness service, Dialog Alerts provides continuous, up-to-date information on the topic(s) you specify, using either an easy-to-use menu interface or Dialog commands. To initiate Dialog Alerts, simply set up an initial search profile on the Dialog system in the database(s) you want to monitor regularly. On a daily, weekly or monthly basis, depending on your specifications and the availability, you will automatically receive updates as soon as new information is available. Dialog Alert updates can be sent to you through first class mail, or for faster service, delivered via fax or electronically via email, including Internet, MCI Mail® and X400.

If you prefer, we will set up your Alerts for you. And as a Dialog customer, there is no charge to you for setting up your Alerts. Contact the Alerts Bureau for details.

Images

With special software from Dialog, you can use your PC to retrieve and print or display trademark images from certain trademark, chemical or pharmaceutical databases and images from Derwent World Patents Index. In order to retrieve images from Classic Dialog, you will need to use DialogLink. Images can also be retrieved with DialogWeb and DialogSelect for the Web.

Dialog ERA™

A convenient and economical approach to copyright compliance, Dialog ERA (Electronic Redistribution and Archiving) from Dialog enables you to archive and distribute Dialog search results within your organization.

ERA guarantees copyright clearance for copying and storage of documents retrieved from the Dialog collection. Copies can be distributed in hard copy, via a corporate intranet or email system, or stored as an archival copy which other employees can then read from their own PCs. Royalties are automatically paid to the copyright owner via Dialog. You can register copies for redistribution or archiving using ERA feature with all four Dialog products.
