Greater Context for Current and Future Research in EMBASE Classic

A new database—EMBASE® Classic—has been added to Dialog (File 772) and DataStar (EM73) and contains the EMBASE electronic backfile from 1947 to 1973, including over 1.8 million records from the biomedical and pharmacological literature. EMBASE Classic provides greater context for current and future research and can be searched together with current EMBASE databases. It is a subscriber-only file, not available for transactional usage.

Read more about this important database. In addition, a new file (File 972 on Dialog and EMXX on DataStar) is available as a subscriber-only file, containing all EMBASE data from 1947 to the present.

Indexing Changes in EMBASE® Reload on Dialog

In the latest EMBASE reload on Dialog you will want to note several indexing changes. Nine new fields have been added, including a new field for record type (e.g., RT=Abstract and RT=Citation) has been added. In addition, the author index now includes the corresponding and contributing author in the author field (AU=) and the corresponding and contributing author affiliation in the corporate source field (CS=). Several fields (DC= descriptor code, SH= section heading and CT= conference title) have been removed.

See the Bluesheet for changes to EMBASE indexing and display tags, as well as dates of coverage.

Chinese Patents Added to Derwent World Patents Index

Derwent World Patents Index® (DWPISM) has broadened its coverage of China's growing patent activity with the addition of English-translated Chinese Utility Model Registrations, updated weekly. Utility models are similar to patents, but require a less stringent review process and offer a shorter protection period. Like conventional patents, utility models reveal important new technology advances and are a significant part of any prior art search. Read more about this new coverage in DWPI.
