Change in Data Provided for EU Countries in Dialog TradStat

The European Commission has changed the reporting regulations for some products traded within the European Union. The revised regulation eliminates the requirement for traders to report net mass of some products. Going forward, only a unit count is required.

Currently, only the trade data for the United Kingdom and France are affected by the changes. Some traders are adopting this reporting change and are no longer providing net mass data; other traders continue to provide the net mass data.

For Dialog TradStat searchers, the change means that the net mass reported for some products will be incomplete. Despite this change, searchers will continue to be able to accurately compare trade across countries in different products by value, in a range of currencies.

Journal Coverage in Dialog NewsRoom

To learn the subject and geographic coverage of a journal in Dialog NewsRoom, check the Journal Subject or Journal Region.

Journal Subject Field (JS=) - All sources are assigned a Journal Subject according to the major focus of the journal/source. Use EXPAND JS= to see the entries.

Journal Region (JR=) - The Journal Region (JR=) pertains to the geographic region of the journal, not the region covered in the article.  This field describes the main areas of geographic coverage for a particular journal.  Use /GN or GN= for articles relating to a specific region of news discussed within the record or article.
