Setting Up an Alert in DialogClassic Web

Using DialogClassic Web, you can easily set up a Dialog Alert to have search results delivered to you automatically at a time of your choosing or whenever a database is updated. Here’s a quick rundown of how it works:

Complete your search strategy and then type SAVE ALERT.

Enter a name for the Alert of up to 30 characters.

Enter a PRINT command: PR s#/format/# of records
(e.g., pr s1/9/all).

Select a schedule to run the Alert, either when the database is updated or at a time and day you choose.

Click SAVE to save the Alert on the Dialog system.

New On-Demand Online Course Using DialogClassic Web
A new Dialog on-demand online course—Learning Dialog Using DialogClassic Web—is now available free via Brainshark. This recorded training course covers the basic features of DialogClassic Web and Dialog Command Language. No previous experience with Dialog searching is necessary to take the course. If you have used Dialog and want to familiarize yourself with the new DialogClassic Web interface or review Dialog command language, you might also find this course useful.

The course contains four sections and a wrap-up:

Overview of Dialog and the new DialogClassic Web interface
Choosing a Dialog database
Searching for documents
Retrieving documents
Conclusion and next steps
