RefWorks comes to Dialog and DataStar

RefWorks is a powerful web-based research management, writing and collaboration tool designed to help researchers at all levels easily gather, organize, store and share all types of information and to instantly generate citations and bibliographies.

ProQuest users have long held RefWorks accounts and have used it to organize and share information with colleagues and collaborators. Now Dialog and DataStarWeb customers who have RefWorks accounts can export search results directly into RefWorks. They can do this through DialogClassic Web™, DialogLink^® 5 DataStar^®Web, DataStarClassic™ and Alerts. NEW! Open Web Article Linking added to ProQuest services

Leveraging our editorial and indexing expertise, ProQuest helps customers connect to full-text content. Find the Open Web Article Linking feature in ABI/INFORM^® Complete and ProQuest Central starting with titles such as Time magazine, and in ProQuest Central, Sports Illustrated and Entertainment Weekly.

When article linking is available, the general access icon appears below record titles. This gives you entry to freely accessible articles on the publishers' Websites.

Here's how it works:

• When you click on the Open Web Article Link within a ProQuest record you will go directly to the article in full text on the publisher's Website. ProQuest manually created these direct links in the record for each item where it is available and they created the links only for freely accessible articles on the Web.
• The new feature also provides a bibliographic record of that article. The link to the full text is only available if the article is on the open web, not behind a pay wall.
• You will be able to cite the full bibliographic record and download into RefWorks or other citation tools.

Business content added

New business content in ABI/INFORM^® and ProQuest Central from publishers such as The World Bank enhances coverage of global key business topics. Titles include Doing Business in the Arab World 2009 (The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development/The World Bank) and eJournal of Tax Research (University of New South Wales).

Headlining changes: Cranes Today (World Market Intelligence (Progressive Media)) has begun again to provide full text and Production and Inventory Management Journal (American Production & Inventory Control Society, Inc.) has resumed citation, indexing and full text. Delaware Journal of Corporate Law (Widener University School of Law) has now added full text.

ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) surfaces innovators and potential employees

Does your organization need to identify and connect with the leading-edge centers of research in specific areas of technology? Do you need to find experts in your field of research? How do you target the top potential employees in your industry? The answers to these questions may lie in ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT). PQDT provides Web access to full-text dissertations, including images. Updating continually, it is the largest global database of its kind. It is the single-most authoritative source for dissertations and theses from top scholars worldwide.

A doctoral dissertation can signal an eventual patent, thus making it more likely to invalidate a patent — that is, provide sufficient information to replicate an invention.

Dissertations represent two to three years of focused, peer-reviewed thinking in addition to a definitive bibliography on a subject. These thousands of citations can comprise an extensive literature search. That means, for the price of a single dissertation, you purchase an in-depth literature search, at great cost and time-savings.
