ProQuest adds new business content
ProQuest constantly builds on its key coverage of important, relevant and highly-sought topics in business information today, including banking, real estate, international business, business law and more. Publishers include Springer Science & Business Media, Croatian Institute for Quality, Transilvania University of Brasov, AsiaNet-Pakistan Ltd., Scientific Research Publishing, International Islamic University of Malaysia, Australian Broadcasting Corporation and University of Zagreb. New titles include Business Excellence (Croatian Institute for Quality), The Financial Daily (Karachi) (AsiaNet-Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd.) and Lateline Business (Australian Broadcasting Corporation). Two titles have changed: OpRisk & Compliance is now Operational Risk & Regulation (Incisive Media PLC) and World Trade's new name is World Trade, WT 100 (BNP Media). ProQuest Central offers more than 150 million full-text records in some 160 subjects Winner of the 2010 Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Award for Best Online Reference Service, ProQuest Central is the largest aggregated full-text database in the market today totaling more than 14,000 periodicals—with over 11,000 of these in full text. As of Monday, May 3, 2010, ProQuest has once again redefined information solutions for science and technology research, by releasing the four remaining full-text ProQuest's Science and Technology Collections. Our renowned CSA Illumina platform discipline-oriented databases provide Deep Indexing and access to full-text resources. Deep Indexing is the creation of relevant terms to describe the information contained within a table, chart, figure or graph, allowing the researcher to vastly improve his or her search efficiency through more precise, focused discovery of relevant articles and publications. Now, through access to the Science and Technology Collections on ProQuest Central, searchers have the ability to retrieve the full text of many of the citation records with a simple mouse click from Illumina! Our new full-text collections, including ProQuest SciTech Collection, ProQuest Natural Science Collection, ProQuest Computer Science Collection and ProQuest Polymer Science Collection, provide researchers the most comprehensive information solutions in the market today. Search Tip: Find publications covering specific geographic locations in Professional ABI/INFORM Complete™
Need to find journals that cover specific locations? You can pinpoint sources several ways in Professional ABI/INFORM Complete™. One quick way is to search by location. Suppose you need to map out a list of journals that cover business ethics focusing on Germany. Click the Advanced tab. Enter the search term "business ethics" using quotation marks around the phrase. Scroll down. Under More Search Options, enter germany in the Location query box. Note that a hyperlink "Look up locations" appears to the right of the location query box. You can use this hyperlink to find countries and regions. Click Search. ABI/INFORM reports the results and displays the results: 88 documents found for: ("business ethics") AND GEO(germany). Once you become familiar with the search syntax, you can enter it all in one line in the Basic search tab.
ABI/INFORM displays the first ten titles in the "All sources" tab. The display, sorted by most recent first, shows titles, authors, journal names, publication dates and journal locations. Increase the number of titles shown by scrolling down to the bottom of the screen and changing the number of results per page up to 30 titles. Limit to full text by clicking "Show only full text." Browse the journal titles by "All sources," "Scholarly Journals," "Magazines" and "Trade Journals" by clicking on the appropriate tabs. If you need specific journals, use "Look up publications" under "More Search Options". For example, click Look up publications and enter zeitschrift. Scroll down to find Zeitschrift für Wirtschafts- und Unternehmensethik and click "Add to Search". The Look-up display gives coverage dates and availability.
Dialog makes copyright compliance easy with Electronic Redistribution and Archiving Service (ERASM)
With the exponential explosion of published literature online, corporate librarians and information-management professionals face major challenges in overseeing copyright compliance in their organizations. Often, copyright compliance is a time-consuming process and end-users have to be educated in the legal consequences of unauthorized copying or sharing copyrighted electronic works. While royalty rates vary, frequently the time and effort put into compliance may be the most noteworthy cost. ProQuest Electronic Products License Agreement (EPLA) covers copyright requirements for content under subscription, but for transactional access option, which is available on Dialog, an additional capability is offered that allows customers to secure immediate redistribution rights online as they purchase content. In the mid-'90s, Dialog anticipated these needs and worked with leading information providers and copyright holders to come up with a way the company could pass certain reuse rights along directly to customers for a fee based on intended use. Dialog ERASM (Electronic Redistribution and Archiving) Service became the first service to make it easy for searchers to comply with copyright laws covering the reuse of information received from the Dialog search engine.
