Based on your suggestions, we are very pleased to offer this new resource designed especially for information professionals and knowledge workers involved in the biomedical and life sciences. In addition to bringing you product and content news, search tips and other information specific to the Dialog and DataStar products, we will bring you other items of interest from industry experts and colleagues.

RAJ: New Healthcare Information Available on Dialog

Regulatory Affairs Journals or RAJ (File 183) has been launched on Dialog. Already available on DataStar (PHRJ), the database contains two publications from PJB, the provider of Scrip and Pharmaprojects: Regulatory Affairs Journal – Pharma and Regulatory Affairs Journal – Devices. RAJ – Pharma has established a worldwide reputation as the primary source of international regulatory intelligence, news and opinion for the pharmaceutical, biotech and veterinary industries, as well as government health authorities and regulatory agencies. RAJ – Devices fulfils a similar role for the medical device and in vitro diagnostics sectors worldwide.

Both Dialog File 183 and DataStar PHRJ are updated daily while the printed version of RAJ – Pharma is updated monthly and RAJ – Devices is updated bimonthly. Refer to the Bluesheet or Datasheet for further information and search tips.

MEDLINE Reloaded on Dialog and DataStar

MEDLINE® (Files 154,155/MEDL, MEZZ) has been reloaded. The files resumed updating in mid-December 2005, and the full 2006 reload is now available.

MEDLINE is reloaded every year because the National Library of Medicine (NLM) re-indexes relevant documents from the whole database with changed medical terms. For 2006, 993 new Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) were added, 188 headings were replaced with more up-to-date terminology and 50 headings were deleted.

Specific details on the changes can be found on the NLM Web site, the Dialog Bluesheet, or for DataStar consult BASE (BASE-MEDL) and print the chapter entitled MEDLINE RELOAD 2006 for a complete list of changes.

New Titles Increase BIOSIS' International Flavor

BIOSIS Previews® (Files 5,55/BIOL, BIZZ) continues to increase its global coverage with over 250 new titles added in 2005. The new titles represent all areas of life sciences, as well as all regions of the globe. Twenty-one percent of the newly added titles originates from Asia and Australasia, 11 percent from Eastern Europe and another 9 percent comes from Central and South America.

This new group of titles encompasses a wide range of life sciences areas, including systematics and taxonomy, biochemistry, ecology, agriculture, bioprocess engineering, pharmacology and computational biology.

Sample titles from Asia and Europe include Environmental Health and Preventive Medicine and Journal of Agricultural Science Tokyo Nogyo Daigaku (Japan); Revista Brasileira de Parasitologia Veterinaria and Ciencia Rural (Brazil); Biosystems Engineering (Netherlands); Microbial Cell Factories and Photochemical and Photobiological Sciences (United Kingdom); Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology (Russia), and Fruits (Les Ulis) and Jiepou Xuebao (Chinese Society of Anatomical Sciences).

World Textiles Adds Medical Data

World Textiles™ (File 67), produced by Elsevier, has been significantly enhanced with new coverage on the use of textiles in the medical environment. The added records relate to subjects such as protective materials, dressings, medical equipment, medical clothing, textiles finishing and washing, etc.

World Textiles is the leading bibliographic information source on textiles, technology and applications as reported in technical, scientific, economic and commercial journals, and statistical publications. In addition, World Textiles includes unique coverage of the related patents and patent applications from the USPTO, European and British patent offices.
