Support : DialogLink : Online Help : VISUAL EXPAND VISUAL EXPAND (continued) The Explode Feature The Explode feature, available in selected files, provides an easy and convenient way to automatically include all narrower Related Terms in a search.
Click the Use EXPLODE in selection checkbox before clicking Select to automatically include any narrower related terms in your search query. If the term has no narrower terms, you will see a message displayed with your result in the retrieve buffer. Terms that display with N beside them in the related terms display are narrower terms that will be included in a search on the EXPLODEd term. You may prefer to select a group of narrower terms for your search, rather than include all in an EXPLODE. View a Term in an Additional Index To view the search terms in an Additional Index such as author, journal etc, enter VE and the term or phrase preceded by the index prefix (e.g., VE AU=EINSTEIN, A).
If you enter an Additional Index VISUAL EXPAND statement using only the prefix code (e.g. VE JN=), you are placed at the beginning of the index. This is useful for obtaining a complete listing of the contents of a field. |
