Mr. Vieux leads Red Herring as its chief executive officer, publisher and chairman. Drawing on a 25-year career as an entrepreneur and high-profile journalist, he is building a content rich business media organization.
Alex started his career at Andersen Consulting, implementing
information systems (1982-1985). In 1985, he managed to serve as the
business correspondent for the French daily “Le Monde” and has
authored over 300 articles reporting on high tech as well as other
industries. He also served as a special advisor to the French Minister of
Industry, covering all issues relating to the high-tech industry, and in
1997 was named president of the Infotech Commission, under the
auspice of the Minister of Economics and Finance. Repeatedly named by
Time magazine as one of the 25 executives shaping a Digital Europe, he
has been elected to the board of directors of ten public companies,
including Tandem Computers (until the company’s merger with
Compaq), Computer Associates, Commerce One, BVRP, Daum and
Check Point Software. Alex’s contributions to the IT industry also
include co-founding two banking software companies, CATS and
Renaissance Software, as well as DASAR, a premier conference
company.

Alex graduated from the Institut d’Etudes Potilitiques and the
French business school HEC. He also holds a J.D. Law degree from the
Universite de Paris and an MBA from Stanford University, where he was a
Fulbright Scholar
